The 4th Annual Goals for Giving Read A Thon at Pike Lake Elementary is underway and will go from April 1st to April 30th. Each student during the month has a goal to read for the following amounts of time:
Kindergarten - 65 minutes
1st-3rd grade - 400 minutes
4th-5th grade - 335 minutes
These goals were chosen by teachers based on the students reading level appropriate books, because, ultimately, the goal is for students to become better readers.
The goal for the school is to raise $10,000 through donations for their reading. This money will go toward funding and continuing to offer programs like STARBASE, Zero the Hero, Osprey Wilds, Forest Fridays, the State Capitol and Minnesota Science Museum trip, and so much more.
