2021-2022 School Year

srt

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year.

We have been busy preparing our school buildings and our facilities for the start of a typical school year. This year we are planning to return to in-person learning for all students five days per week. Although we were hopeful that we would not see a rise in COVID-19 and the Delta Variant in our region, that has not been the case. We will continue to work with the MDH, MDE, and St. Louis County Public Health to monitor infection and transmission rates to modify our masking requirements when possible. Although we currently require masks in all of our school facilities beginning on August 9th, the School Board has not finalized masks requirements during the regular school year. The Board will make that decision at its regular meeting on August 23, 2021.

The start of each school year resonates with optimism, as I anticipate the opportunity to empower our students and the entire staff to create and innovate in a respectful learning environment. It’s also time to remember the importance of great schools, great teachers, and excellent educational experiences. As your Superintendent of Schools, I am proud of the Proctor School District’s tradition of being a leader in promoting outstanding learning opportunities. I also want you to know how important our partnerships are with our parents, guardians, and community members. Our District’s mission to provide opportunities while creating welcoming learning environments is key to our continued success together. If you have any questions throughout the year, please feel free to contact me directly by email, text, or phone.

This year Tanya Kessler joins the District as our new Director of Transportation, and we look forward to some exciting changes in communication and efficiencies. I would like to invite you to download our Ride 360 App which will allow you to locate and track your children’s buses on their route to and from school.

I am committed to creating world-class learning environments that best suit the needs of our students. I look forward to partnering with you, and I encourage you to accept an open invitation to visit or share your thoughts with me throughout the year.

Sincerely,

John Engelking
